Privacy policy
Updated 12 October 2026
deja is a Chrome extension that helps you find the posts you saved on Instagram, X, YouTube, Pinterest, Reddit, LinkedIn and TikTok. This policy explains what information deja handles and how. “We” means the team behind deja.
Your saved posts stay on your device.
Your saved posts
- When you sync an app, deja reads your saved posts through that app’s website, in your own logged-in tab.
- deja stores your saves, and what it learns from them, in your browser on your device.
- We never receive your saved posts. deja never asks for your passwords.
Information we collect
To run deja and make it better, we collect limited usage information. This may include:
- How deja is used, such as which features are used and how often.
- Technical details, such as your browser version, type of device and approximate location (country).
- A random ID made by your browser. It isn’t linked to your name or your accounts, unless you choose to give us your email.
This information never includes your saved posts or the words you type.
You can turn it off any time in deja’s menu → Help improve deja. Where the law requires it, we ask first.
Information you choose to share
- Searches, if you send one to us or turn on “Also share my searches”.
- Your email, if you give it to us. We only use it to write to you about deja.
- Feedback, such as a bug report or your answer when you remove deja.
How we use information
We use it to run, fix and improve deja. We don’t sell it. We don’t use it for ads or for anything unrelated to deja.
deja’s use of information follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Who we share it with
- Service providers that help us run deja, such as Cloudflare (hosting) and Tally (forms). They handle it on our behalf.
- Authorities, if the law requires it, or to protect deja, our users or others.
- A new owner, if deja is ever sold or merged. This policy would still apply.
Our website
Our website, dejavuit.com, counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It also notes how its pages are used, such as which sections are seen and which buttons are pressed. It doesn’t use cookies and doesn’t identify you.
Voice
Voice search turns your voice into text on your device. It isn’t recorded or sent to us.
Downloads
deja downloads thumbnails and videos of your saves from the apps’ own servers, and its AI models once. These requests go straight to those services.
How long we keep it
We keep information only as long as we need it for the reasons above.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect information. No way of storing or sending data is completely secure.
Your choices
- Turn off usage collection in deja’s menu → Help improve deja.
- Forget everything in deja’s menu deletes your saves and everything deja learned from them.
- Removing deja deletes everything it stores on your device.
- To see or delete information we hold, such as your email, write to us.
Children
deja isn’t meant for children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We may update this policy. We’ll post the new version here with a new date.
